Description
Summary:The volume illustrates the reconstruction of the excavation mission conducted by the «G. Vitelli» Papyrological Institute in the winter between 1964 and 1965 on the site of Arsinoe, ancient capital of the Fayyum district. Archival materials, archaeological finds and papyri shed light both on the fieldwork and architecture of the area investigated and on aspects of daily life in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt. Furthermore, the available documentation has been used to make ‘visitable’ again – through 3D models, digital storytelling and augmented reality – an archaeological site that has forever disappeared under the growth of contemporary urbanisation.
